TCAN4550-Q1: TCAN4550-Q1 vsTCAN4551-Q1

Part Number: TCAN4550-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN4550, , TCAN4551-Q1

Dear Team,

My customer would like to use external CAN controller to expand CAN port. The competitor part name is MCP2518FD.

I know TI don't have CAN controller only solution. Is it right?

I will promote TCAN4550 to replace competitor device.

What is difference between TCAN4550 and TCAN4551? Only with/without LDO function?

Please let me know your opinion.

Thank you

  • Dino,

The TCAN4550-Q1 can be used in controller-only mode, but you are correct, we do not have a standalone CAN FD controller. Besides the lack of external LDO on the TCAN4551-Q1, the TCAN4551-Q1 also does not include a Watchdog, and VIO voltages can work down to 1.8V.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
