SN65DP159: does SN65DP159 support 1024x768 60Hz input?

If it is a standard DP source, then the DP158, 159, or TDP0604 will not work as they are DP++ to HDMI passive level shifter.

For DP to HDMI, you will need an active DP to HDMI protocol converter.

I see. Correction the GPU I am sourcing from uses DP V1.4 ports, which I believe support DP++.

DP1.4 means the port supports DP specification version 1.4.

For DP++, you would typically see a logo next to the connector like this,

If you don't see the "+ +", then it is likely the port is a standard DP port.

I also verified with the GPU manufacture that the ports are DP++. but I am curious is there any other way to know if there is not DP++ mark on the port?

In this case, TDP158, 159, 0604 will able to support DP++. The logo next to the port is the only way I know that will tell you the difference between DP and DP++.
