DP83869HM: SNLS614B – SEPTEMBER 2018 – REVISED DECEMBER 2022

Part Number: DP83869HM

Hello Team,

we are a little bit confused about the changes compared to SNLS614A.

In 100M Media Converter Mode (9.4.8.6) was added:

• Write 0x000E to register 18h // Mux LED_1 to function as RX_ER, but 0x000E is the value for LED_0 !!??

But we has configured LED_1 as 'link OK'.

LED_1 and LED_2 are strapped to 1and Link Loss Pass Thru is enabled (RX_CLK strapped to 0) as shown in table 9-15, OPMODE(0) and OPMODE(2) are strapped to 1 (as shown in table 9-9: 100Base-T to 100Base-FX mode)

What is the background to write the function RX_ER to LED_1? Can we use LED_1 further as indication for a link at the FX-side?

Also the PHYIDR2 Register (Table 9-22) was modified to A0F3h (REVISION_NUM=3h), but in FX_PHYID2 Register (Table 9-89) the revision number stays at REVISION_NUM_FIBER=1h. Is that correct?

Best regards,

Dieter

  • Hi Dieter,

Please allow me some time to discuss with team and confirm the correct configuration for 100M Media Converter Mode. Expect a follow-up by next Friday 2/3.

    Thank you,

    Evan

  • Hi Dieter,

This LED configuration register write is not required for 100M media converter mode - it is a recommended setting. The noted register write is intended for LED_0 - please refer to the register map (0x18h) for LED configurations after setting the PHY mode.

For 100M Media Converter Mode, the default function of LED_1 is to indicate fiber link (Table 9-10).

Also the PHYIDR2 Register (Table 9-22) was modified to A0F3h (REVISION_NUM=3h), but in FX_PHYID2 Register (Table 9-89) the revision number stays at REVISION_NUM_FIBER=1h. Is that correct?

This is correct. What is the purpose of referencing FX_PHYID for your application?

    Thank you,

    Evan

  • Hi Evan,

thanks for the clarification on the LED configuration in 100M media mode, the FX_PHYID question was for information only.

    Best regards,

    Dieter
