MAX3232: Datasheet Question for Driver

Part Number: MAX3232

Hi, had a question about the MAX3232 datasheet. If the VCC is set to 3.3V, what is driver electrical characteristics typically? What is the VOH and VOL voltages when VCC = 3.3V? The reason I ask because under Section 6.6 Electrical Characteristics - Driver, the VOH and VOL seem to indicate 5 to 5.4 V. Please let me know as soon as the information becomes available. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Viraj

  • Hi Viraj,

It is  +/-5.4V (for VOH and VOL respectively)  typically for entire supply voltage range.

    1. The device has an internal charge pump to generate the output signals (Typically +/- 5.4V)

    2. The supply voltage used will determine external capacitance values (for pins, V+, V-, C1+, C1-, C2+,C2-) Capacitor placement is shown in figure 9-1 on page 11 of datasheet and capacitance value table is shown in table 9-1 on page 12 of the datasheet.

If you have any other questions please let me know and I will see what I can do!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
