DP83867IR: Mandatory pin straps

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hello

Our customer is investigating to employ DP83867 for new project.

There is tight PCB space limitation, they want to minimize number of external resistors for pin strap under SW control mode.

Which pin strap is mandatory to place resisters to keep basic function?

On the datasheet, it seems following function can be initialized by SW registers setting. Can we reduce pin strap for those pins?

RX_D5 pin: Force MIDI/X, Half-Duplex Enable

RX_D6 pin: AMDIX Disable

RX_DIV/RX_CTRL pin: Auto Disable

CRS pin: Fast Link Drop

LED_0 pin: Mirror Enable

  • Hi Mochizuki,

All of the listed functions can be configured through software, and do not require straps. The MAC interface may require a strap for basic function.

    Thank you,

    Evan

  • Evan,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

We will remain pin straps for MAC related setting such as PHY_ADDx, ANEG_SELx, RGMII Disable, Speed Optimization Enable, Clock Out Disable and RGMII Clock Skew TXx/RXx.

Since we are analog HW engineer, not familiar those things but we could reach to define PCB layout plan.
