SN65DP159: TX support details

Part Number: SN65DP159

Hi Experts,

We are using the SN65DP159RSBT in our designs, we want to know the Tx/output supports,

RX is mentioned upto 16.5db ,But not finding the tx values.

As per the datasheet, it is mentioned " keep total trace length for signal pairs to a minimum" , but we are not sure the minimum values, As per our design , it comes around 7inch trace length due to our design environment. is it Ok

Could you please tell the loss requirement between SN65DP159RSBT to HDMI connector.

Regards

Karthik

  • Hello, Karthik,

The equalization is only on the RX side of the DP159 and this is why it is only mentioned for the RX side. The TX side can use pre-emphasis or de-emphasis to compensate for channel losses. The de-emphasis can be set to -2 dB.

    When you say:

As per our design , it comes around 7inch trace length due to our design environment. is it Ok

Do you mean from the DP159's TX or RX side?

As for the acceptable length of the system design, there are many considerations for either channel on each side of the DP159. For example, for the GPU to the DP159 side, the transmitter's drive strength, the losses of the trace from the output of the transmitter to the input of the DP159 and the equalization. As for the DP159 to HDMI connector side, you will need to take into account the pre-emphasis or de-emphasis and the total losses of that trace.

    Thank you,

    Zach
