TCAN330: CAN bus test points

Part Number: TCAN330
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN332EVM

Hi.

A question about the Test Points in CANH & CANL in TCAN330 EVM board.

The board has TPs directly connected to the CAN signals and other TPs connected to the signals through a resistor of 330 Ohms.

So, how is recommended measure the CAN signals, directly or through the resistor and why?

Thanks for the help on this question.

  • Asael,

You can measure the bus directly on TCAN332EVM with TP2 and TP5. You can use TP4 and TP6 for current limiting, measurement through load resistors, biasing, etc.

For most measurement cases, using TP2 and TP5 should be sufficient for bus monitoring. It is common to connect oscilloscopes to CANH and CANL provided that the oscilloscope is sufficiently able to handle bus voltages.

    Best,

    Danny
