TPL0102 Digital Potentiometer Specifications

The specifications for the TPL0102 digital potentiometer:  On page 11 the diagram for the 3-terminal, digital pot suggests that the "shut-down" mode opens both the wiper and the "H" terminals.

When this "shut-down" mode is actually asserted, the "H" terminal opens, but the resistance reads approximately 70 ohms between the "L" terminal and the wiper terminal.

This specification does not appear to be correct (???).

  • Hi Dennis,

You're correct.  The diagram for the shutdown mode is labeled incorrectly.  In shutdown mode, this device will move the wiper to code 0x00h and open the switch on the H terminal (wiper will return to it's original position when the shutdown mode is disabled).

The resistance that you're measuring is basically the series resistance of the wiper switch and low terminal switch.

    Best Regards,

    Jim

  • Hi! Could you please update the datasheet. We were also counting on the feature which allows disconnecting wiper. Also do you know any other TI digital poti witch I2C which really can disconnect wiper?
