Customer wants to output only one color with pattern gen.

Should they choose 1 color bar with below register? Thanks

    Hi,

    Is this snippet is from a different datasheet? I couldn't find this in the DS90UB941AS-Q1 datasheet. For this serializer PATGEN, the PGCTL_PGCTL_P1 Register (Address = 0x64) can be used to set to one solid color listed in PATGEN_SEL bits. 

    I searched and this may be from the 964 datasheet. In that case, this would be deserializer internal pattern generation.
    For only one color pattern generation, yes please set NUM_CBARS to 00. The 964 is only for ADAS applications.

    Please follow the steps on 8.5.6.1 Code Example for Pattern Generator for this.

    Ikram,

    Sorry for confusion.

    Customer need this for both UB941 and UB962.

    For BU941 PATGEN_SEL bits , do you mean set it to "Custom color" and configure PGRS, PGGS,PGBS for one combined color? Other setting seems not one color. 

    For UB962, I should set PGEN_FIXED_EN to 0 besides NUM_CBARS to 00, right?

    Hi Ryan,

    Just for clarity, the 941AS is for IVI and it is not compatible with UB962. Could you tell me what the customer application is with the 962?

    For the 941AS serializer PATGEN, for the specified colors, use PGCTL_PGCTL_P1 register:

    Eg. Set register 0x64 to 0x11 for solid white output:
    - enable PATGEN: set PATGEN_EN to 1
    - disable color bars: leave PATGEN_COLOR_BARS as 0
    - select pattern using PATGEN_SEL. Eg. 01 for white



    This is much easier if you have use ALP, you can use the Pattern Generator tab. For example, here I set the Fixed Pattern to white, and left Color bars unchecked. You could also set it to Custom and pick the custom color.

    Ikram,

    Customer use both UB941+UB948 and UB953+UB962.

    For UB962, they tried NUM_CBARS=0,but they didn't get one color output.

    Some questions:

    1. Should I set PGEN_FIXED_EN 0 or 1?

    2.  Should I set PGEN_BAR_SIZE to match PGEN_LINE_SIZE?

    3. Should I take care of BLOCK_SIZE?

    Hi Ryan,

    For UB962 deserializer PATGEN for one color,

    1. Set PGEN_FIXED_EN to 1 and NUM_CBARS to 00 should give one color output

    2.  Yes, set PGEN_BAR_SIZE to match PGEN_LINE_SIZE

    3. Block size can be left as 3 for 3 bytes (RGB888)
