MAX3243E: About changes from Rev D to Rev E

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: MAX3243E

Hi Team,

I found the following comment in the 4 Revision History of datasheet Rev E.

> Changed From: 250 kbit/s To: 500 kbit/s in the Description

However, there is no difference between Rev D and Rev E in the datasheet.

Is this comment a typo?

If no, please let me know what changes.

Regards,

Hide

  • Hi Hide,

So in REV D - in the description section it states "up to 250 kbits/s" not the feature section - this was supposed to be updated in the Rev E version - but it wasn't as it still says 250Kbits/s.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention as it seems the change wasn't made.

    Best,

  • Hi Parker-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

    I have two questions.

    ------

    [Q1]

I understand that “Changed From: 250 kbit/s To: 500 kbit/s in the Description” is correct information but "250 kbit/s in Description" was not fixed yet.

    Is my understanding correct?

If yes, would you correct the datasheet?

    [Q2]

I understand that Rev D and Rev E data specs have not changed.

(So, you just want to change the description in the datasheet.)

    Is my understanding correct?

    ------

  • Hi Hide,

    1. Yes your understanding is correct - and it is noted in our datasheet change to do list; it may be slightly lower priority as there are a lot in the list currently and the specification table is correct - the revision wasn't made and its a description which is more marketing than performance guarantee.

    2. Yes - the specification for data rate did not change between devices - only that the description is referring to min. guaranteed data rate not typical as was the intention.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
