MAX3221: About the time to output when switching from Automatic power down to normal operation.

Guru 11495 points

Part Number: MAX3221

Hi team,

I'd like to know about the automatic power down.

Could you tell me about the time to output when switching from Automatic power down to normal operation?
I think the automatic power down is switched to normal mode by the input signal.

I want to know if I need a dummy signal to wake it up.

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Kengo,

After device remains in invalid signal state for more than 30us, device will enter auto-power down mode.

Please let me know if this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Tyler

  • Tyler,

    Thank you for your reply.
    No,
I'd like to know is how long it takes for the output to come back on after the auto-power down mode is restored.

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.

  • Kengo,

MAX3221 exits a power-down state when any valid signal is present on the receiver. While we don't specify this explicitly in the datasheet most likely due to the slow data rates of RS-232, I would think the timing would be similar to the output enable/disable timing spec typically ~200ns. The only exact way to know for sure would be to scope the input and output to see the time differential after coming out of a power-down state.

    Regards,

    Tyler
