TLIN1029-Q1: DTO

Part Number: TLIN1029-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLIN1027-Q1, TLIN1029A-Q1

Hi Guys

I have a customer that does a very low Baud rates and they see the reset on the Low bauds as the Chip thinks it’s an error on the bus.

Is there a way to override the TXD Dominant time out protection (DTO) state or would they have to go with TLIN1027 device without the DTO function incorporated?

The problem is the 5 baud init sequence which has a wait time of 200ms between bits. It detects anything over say 80ms as an error.

They hoping that there is a know work around to disable the state on the 1029 chip.

Thanks

Rodney

  • Rodney,

Unfortunately there is no way to disable DTO on the TLIN1029A-Q1. The customer would have to go with TLIN1027-Q1 since it does not have DTO. So it sounds like the test is expecting an extended dominant bit, but the transceiver disables the bus and goes recessive, then the tester reports an error, is that correct?

The TLIN1027-Q1 is meant for applications with lower than typical LIN data rates, all other LIN transceivers in TI's portfolio have dominant timeout.

  • Thanks Eric

The customer said thanks for clarifying.

They noticed the part TLIN2027 is drop in replacement for the TLIN1027, they saw only minor differences like the support for 24V systems and  one small difference in the one standard layer ISO/DIS 17987–4.2 vs ISO/DIS 17987–4 between the two.

    Thanks for the help
