DS100BR410: Boost / EQ SMBus Register

Part Number: DS100BR410

Hello.

I have a question about the Boost / EQ SMBus Register on the DS100BR410.

On page 14, table 5 of the datasheet, there is a register for setting the gain in SMBus, but what if I want to set 16 levels in more detail?

The register is not proportional to the gain, so it is not possible to make detailed settings.

For example, 17dB is 015'h while 19.2dB is 00B'h, a non-intuitive change.

Could you please provide further documentation on this?

  • Hi,

Unfortunately I don't have any additional data on EQ boost settings outside of the 16 options listed in Table 5. Is there a specific boost value outside of these options that you're trying to implement? For most use cases we recommend using one of the settings listed in Table 5.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Thank you very much.

So is there any relationship between the increase in the level of this gain and the register and value?

Since there is a regular increase from 7.3dB to 16.6dB, I am wondering if there is any other
part, there is a criterion that can determine the gain from the register.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me what, if anything, is going on.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi,

The EQ is composed of multiple stages which are controlled by different bits of the boost register. Unfortunately I'm not sure which bits control which stages. The boost level doesn't increase at a fixed rate because each stage affects the overall EQ boost by different amounts.
