TUSB216: TUSB216 placement recommendation

Part Number: TUSB216
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB213, TUSB212

Hi,

Customer is thinking to add a TUSB216 re-driver.

From the TUSB216 datasheet view, our application belongs to the pre-channel situation, is it recommended to be close to the connector side?

From SI’s suggestion is to put it behind MUX6 as marked with purple circle, so it makes a bypass compatible design, is there any comments? Can you provide a simulation model?

Best regards,

Randy

  • Hi Randy,

If the application is pre-channel, it would be preferable as close to the connector as possible.

Unfortunately we do not have an IBIS or HSpice model for the TUSB216, however we do have an HSpice model for the TUSB212/TUSB213. If your customer has an NDA with TI and can provide the NDA ID, we can send that to them. By the way, we do have S parameters for the TUSB216, but only for low and full speed mode, which means we don't really have anything for while the device is active.

    Regards,

    Josh
