Regarding PCIE Expansion

Good day,

I have some queries on PCIE interface.

I have a host with x4 PCIE interface. I want to connect 5 slave with x1 interface to this host. Which is the best way to implement this?

Can i give each lanes of x4 host pcie connections to each of my x1 Slave PCIE. If i am proceeding like this, what about the REF clock signals. Can i give same reference clock to all the slaves?

Or do i need to use port expanders of pcie switches. If so kindly suggest part number which suits for this purpose.

Hi Alan,

In your case, we need to use a PCIe switch to go from X4 to X1.

Hi Alan,

Based on the clocking architecture, switch can use 100MHz reference clock supplied by either root complex.
