MAX3221: tPLH & tPHL Max data

Part Number: MAX3221

Guys, does TI have the min and max data of tPLH, tPHL base on 3.3V or 5V? Datasheet just show the typ. data as below picture.

Thanks in advance!

  • If this data existed, it would have been mentioned in the datasheet.

Anyway, this device is designed to support 250 kbps, where the length of a single bit is 4000 ns, so it can be assumed that the limits are safe for that.

  • Hi Sabitha,

We don't specify a maximum value for this device - so I don't have any specific data to share for the max propagation delay.  The max bit rate for the device, as Clemens mentioned, is 250Kbps - which has a 4000ns bit time - the typical value should be the standard that you see but the device will not create bit loss issues for data streams up to 250Kbps.

  • Hi Parker,

Thanks for your quick response, i have captured receiver response of the Max3221 IC

tPHL is 387.75ns But the data sheet mentioned 150ns (typ).

  • The propagation delay is measured from/to the middle of the edge; see figure 7-3.

  • Hi Sabitha,

As Clemens mentioned the propagation delay is 50% of input value to 50% of output value.

Things that also affect propagation delay is the output and input capacitance of the board as this is going to add some time as well. 150ns is the typical - but not the guaranteed value - this propagation delay still can work with a 250Kbps signal as well. So there aren't necessarily problems based on the waveforms that you have shown.

If you have any other questions please let me know!
