TUSB522P: can TUSB522P be use to DP data?

Hi team, I just want to ask a low level question to study a knowledge from you. from my understanding, Redriver is to compensate signal losses according to PCB trace and signal data rates, so when we use a redriver, just considerate data rates but data protocol . so if a redriver support 10Gbps data, can it be used to all protocol data signal below 10Gbps? for example, can TUSB522P be used to DP data signal below 5Gbps?

Hi,

It depends on the re-driver design. Certain re-driver, such as TUSB522P, implements a state machine that monitors the USB bus for power management. In this case, you can't use TUSB522P for DP since it does not understand DP signaling. Other re-drivers do not implement or can disable the internal state machine, then they can be used for DP signaling as long as the DP data rate meets the re-driver bandwidth requirement.
