TPD3S716-Q1: TPD3S716-Q1 Short to GND

Part Number: TPD3S716-Q1

Hi Expert,

During the verification for USB protector TPD3S716, I met an issue on the fault pin (Pin 10), issue description is shown as below, and also attached the partial schematic for you reference.

The fault pin is pull_up to 3.3V

  1. In the normal condition, I can measure the voltage of fault is 3.3V, I think it is normal.
  2. When I short the VBUS to GND, I can also measure the voltage of fault pin is 3.3V. I think it is abnormal, theoretically, short the VBUS to GND, it should trigger the OC, and also output a low level voltage.

From the datasheet, I can read when the OC is triggered, it will continue to detect and retry by itself. From my understanding, if I set the short between VBUS and GND continuously, the protector will not de-assert fault and resume normal operation, please correct me.

Thanks a lot for your warm help!

Best regards,

Imelda
