DS90UB949-Q1: Is it feasible to increase the twisted pair of 949-948 from 6m to 8m?

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

Hi team,

A project of my client uses DS90UB949-DS90UB948, which has been mass-produced before using 6m twisted pair. The screen resolution is 800*480 60Hz, and the FPD link III cable is 6 meters. Now it is going to be extended to 8m. Is it feasible?
If it can be replaced, what should be the focus of attention after the change?

  • Hi Alan,

The DS90UB949 is spec'd for up to 15 Meters, so changing to 8M should be feasible, yes.

Upon changing it, I would say some key areas to watch are performance during PatGen or general use, signal degradation and adjusting AEQ to compensate for it, CRC errors and if there is an increase, whether there is any loss of lock, and any difficulties with temperature.

Section 7.3.12.1 of the DS90UB948 Datasheet gives some info on expected AEQ compensation at certain lengths.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
