DS90UB947-Q1: Some questions about DS90UB947-Q1

Hi,

My customer has some questions about DS90UB947-Q1, can you help resolve?

1. The SPI description of 947 has "The SPI Control Channel utilizes the secondary link in a 2-lane FPD-Link Ill implementation", so is the SPI control transmitted through STP or coax? Why is there a separate SPI pin connected out, Is this connected to my console?
2. If the pins of repeater-related functions are externally connected to the deserializer, can it be done through an ordinary bus?
3. What is the function of I2C in the repeater? Isn't it possible to pass information through the forward or backward channel? Why are there the following two solutions?

    You can configure SPI in either coax or STP mode. What do you mean by connected to your console? Do you mean the MCU/SoC? If so, yes.

    2. If the pins of repeater-related functions are externally connected to the deserializer, can it be done through an ordinary bus?

    Could you maybe rephrase this question explain what you mean by "can it be done through an ordinary bus?".

    3. What is the function of I2C in the repeater? Isn't it possible to pass information through the forward or backward channel? Why are there the following two solutions?

    It is possible to pass info in either direction when the serializer and deserializer are connected to each out via FPD-Link. However, in repeater mode, the deserializer is the host and information can only be passed in one direction.

    These images depict different things. What differences are you referring to?

    No problem.

    They can, but they must meet special routing and termination requirements outlined in the section '7.3.14.2.1 Repeater Fan-Out Electrical Requirements' of the datasheet.

    These diagrams depict two different things. The top diagram shows the connections required for repeater mode. The bottom diagram is for the serial control bus connections for I2C.
