TCAN4550: RX/TX FIFO data structure

Hello,

My customer has an question for TCAN4550.

According to the TCAN45xx Software User’s Guide(SLLU270), section 4.2.5(Rx FIFO 0/1),

The first 8 Bytes out of 64 Bytes are header data like ESI and XTD etc. Then the maxim amount of data looks like 56 bytes.

Isn’t it possible to assign all 64 Bytes to data?

They have exactly the same question for Tx FIFO.

Regards,

Oba

  • Hi Oba,

The actual RX FIFO structure includes 8 bytes for the header information and up to 64 additional bytes for data. So if the FIFO is configured to store 64 byte CAN FD messages, the actual FIFO elements will be 72 bytes in the TCAN4550's memory.

Let me know if this is clear and if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
