About CAN Wake-up pattern

Hi.

Could you please tell us the CAN waku-up pattern?

Depend on ISO 11898-2,  it supports two waku-up pattern.

1) Basic wake-up  : Dominant (more than t_filter)

2)Waku-up pattern wake-up : Dominant(more than t_filter)  -> Recessive(more than t_filter) -> Dominant(more than t_filter)

For example,

1st Device has TCAN1044(support 2) wake-up pattern waku-up).
2nd Device has the other CAN transceiver (support 1) Basic waku-up).

In case of, We want to do wake-up 1st & 2nd devices at the same time using  a 3rd device,

We make the signal that Dominant(more than t_filter)  -> Recessive(more than t_filter) -> Dominant(more than t_filter)

t_filter more than 5us

It is right?

  • Katayama-san,

    It sounds like you are understanding correctly. The WUP requirements help reduce unwanted wake-up events resulting from noise on the bus. In both cases, start of communication results in wake-up events anyway.

    Alternatively, as you mentioned, the wake-up pattern will also satisfy the requirements of the basic wake-up. Thus, you could use a WUP as pattern 2 and it would also satisfy pattern 1.

    Best,

    Danny
