DP83869EVM: Alt. of the "88E1512-A0-NNP2I000" IC Verification

Part Number: DP83869EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83TG720S-Q1, DP83869

Hi Team,

Currently I redesign my Existing product ,

In my Existing Product "88E1512-A0-NNP2I000 - 4/4 Transceiver Full, Half IEEE 802.3, IEEE 1588 56-QFN (8x8)" IC is used for Fiber Communbication ,

My Application is interfacing the PHy with Switch " SJA1105"  i need 10/100/1000 Mbps Speed over Ethernet

SJA1105 --> RGMII MAC Mode --> Ethernet Phy (88E1512-A0-NNP2I000 Or DP83869HMRGZT) --> SERDES/SGMII interface --> Optical Transmatation .

Please share your freedback can i replace 88E1512-A0-NNP2I000 IC with TI solutation DP83869HMRGZT .

I refer the Datasheet the Pin out are similer i confused in discreptation 4/4 Transceiver and 1/1 Transceiver ( i think both IC have 4 Transceiver as they are for 1000Mbps right ? ) . can you please expaint about that .

Regards,

Nikunj

  • Let me give some more idea on the Redesign of our product , we are planning to use TI Parts

    Refer below details - Its a Automotive Ethernet Switch Design . Previously we have Marvel parts .

    Automotive Eth Connector --> DP83TG720S-Q1(1000BASE-T1) --> RGMI MAC Interface --> SJA1105 --> RGMI MAC Mode --> DP83869HMRGZT --> SGMII/SERDES MInterface --> Optical Conn. ( SFP )

    the config of the Ethernet Phy over MDIO interface done by MCU .

    Please share your feedback on this and suggest Design Guid for the same.

    Regards,

    Nikunj

  • Hi Nikunj,

    Automotive Eth Connector --> DP83TG720S-Q1(1000BASE-T1) --> RGMI MAC Interface --> SJA1105 --> RGMI MAC Mode --> DP83869HMRGZT --> SGMII/SERDES MInterface --> Optical Conn. ( SFP )

    The above setup is achievable with DP83869.

    I refer the Datasheet the Pin out are similer i confused in discreptation 4/4 Transceiver and 1/1 Transceiver ( i think both IC have 4 Transceiver as they are for 1000Mbps right ? ) . can you please expaint about that .

    Are you referring to the MDI channels/pairs ? Gigabit copper Ethernet uses 4 channels, where as automotive Ethernet uses a single pair.

    Here is a schematic design checklist for DP83869, you can use this for guidance:

  • Hi Rahul,

    Thank you for the quick responce ,

    Gigabit copper Ethernet uses 4 channels, where as automotive Ethernet uses a single pair. - Yes that i know .

    So in 88E1512 Phy IC MDI - Media Dependent Interface used for connectivity between PHY and Connector/Jack(RJ45)

    in DP83869HMRGZT - Differential Transmit and Receive Signals TD-A to D is used for connectivity between PHY and Connector/Jack(RJ45)

    but that doesen't matter for my  application right ? in both case they are same .

    Now i need below confirmatation regarding support of DP83869HMRGZT  PHY

    - IEEE 802.3az-2010 Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)

    - EEE Buffering

    - Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE)

    - Precise Timing Protocol (PTP)

    - Auto-Media Detect

    - Wake on LAN (WOL)

    and i also need  EMC Test Report (is therre any EMC Test conducted on EVM ? if yes then please provide) for "DP83869HMRGZT " and "DP83TG720S-Q1" as we need very good EMC perfonmance .

    Regards,

    Nikunj

  • Hi Nikunj,

    All the information you have requested in provided in the datasheet of the PHY:

    https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dp83869hm.pdf?ts=1679333018695&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FDP83869HM

    The ESD ratings are also provided in the datasheet.

    Please let me know what EMC tests you will be performing on this PHY and what are the requirements ?

    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Hi Rahul,

    I need "RF radiated, conducted (Multimedia)" if it avalable .

    and Great i find "https://www.ti.com/lit/ml/snla331/snla331.pdf?ts=1679898420997&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FDP83869HM "

    Document for " 88E1512 to DP83867 and DP83869 System Rollover " It will help me .

    Thank you

  • Hi Nikunj,

    Good to know that you are using the System Rollover document. We do not have the test report you are requesting for, but we have a design guidance checklist for DP83869 please do let us know if you want us to review the schematics and layout. Also, do let us know if you are facing any issues during the EMC tests.
