Hi,

I would like to connect two devices by SGMII, 1.25G with different voltage level as following:

TX side: device 1 transmit range is 225 - 525mvp-p to device 2 receive range 500 - 2400mvp-p

RX Side: device 2 transmit range 370 - 2200mv to device 1 receive range 100-600mvp-p

Please help me to choose the right part number.

If I need to calculate any resistor RVO, do you have a formula ? or maybe you can send me the Rvo I should use.

Since the values are typical, what is the +/- tolerance you can commit to ?

Greetings,

Output amplitude versus RVO is linear and it is indirectly proportional to the output amplitude. Maximum recommended output amplitude is 800mV(Rvo=487 ohm) and minimum 300mV(Rvo=1100mV).

TX Side: buffer input: 100-2200mv ptp (good) -> buffer output: 800mv ptp - in this side I can use DS15BA101

RX Side: buffer input: 100-2200mv ptp (good) -> buffer output: 800mv ptp (too high but buffer output can be reduced by control resistor Rvo. “The output voltage level is controlled by the value of the RVO resistor connected between the RVO pin and VCC”) - in this side I can use DS15E101

Please review and approve, as well as what is the value of RVO you recommend to use ?

Apologize since i just noticed i got my units wrong.

Your understanding is correct. Here is the equation:

Units: VOD in Volt & R in K-Ohm

VOD = -0.815*R + 1.197

Hi Nasser,

1. So in TX I need to use DS15BA101 and for RX DS15EA101, right? is it a different components and I need to order two different catalog numbers?

2. The equation doesn't take into account the VCC(operating voltage of the device) - is it ok?

Hi Nir,

Yes you are correct. You need to use BA101 for TX and EA101 for RX.

Correct this does not take into account VCC. I don't expect much change though.
