TCAN1145-Q1: tcan1145 FRAME_OVF wake up and fail mode problem

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

1.FRAME_OVF “”wake up" refers to entering sleep mode and waking up after receiving an error frame that exceeds the threshold. Is this true? Or does it mean that after a wup event occurs when a selective walk is started, the TCAN will wake up after receiving an error frame that exceeds the threshold value?

2.When powering on for the first time, PWRON is set to 1. If you enter failsafe mode at this time, what happens when you turn off FS_DIS in failsafe mode?

3.If you enter the fail safe mode as soon as you power on, and the PWRON flag is 1, will the SWE timeout enter the sleep mode. If I enter sleep mode due to timeout while in failsafe mode, but the fault still exists, such as VCC, can TCAN be woken up at this time? If possible, will it immediately switch from standby mode to failsafe mode after waking up?

  • Hi Guoqiang,

Thanks for bringing your questions to E2E.

A Frame Overflow occurs when the transceiver recognizes a number of frame errors that exceeds the configured threshold. Note that errors may be CAN errors such as stuff errors or error frames, or they may be unrecognized frames such as CAN FD frames (not supported for partial networking) or frames at data rates different from what is configured.

2.When powering on for the first time, PWRON is set to 1. If you enter failsafe mode at this time, what happens when you turn off FS_DIS in failsafe mode?

I believe if FS_DIS is set while currently in Failsafe mode then the device will move directly into Sleep mode. Keep in mind that if the fault clears before setting this bit then the device will leave failsafe mode.

What fault do you expect to put the device in failsafe mode after initial power-up? Note that the device has 200ms to allow for Vcc and Vio rise before moving to Failsafe mode. This is also true when the device moves from Sleep to Standby due to a wake event.
Yes, an SWE timeout in failsafe mode will put the device into Sleep mode. A wake from Sleep mode under this condition will be the same as if Sleep mode was entered through any other means.

Let me know if anything here is still unclear.
