DS90UB948-Q1EVM: Zero Ohm Resistors on Inputs

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1EVM

What is the function of the four resistors on the RINA+, RINA-, RINB+, RINB- inputs (R37, R38, R64 & R64)?  Wouldn't they short out the inductors?  I have a project where a design engineer has included those resistors, but I'm questioning whether or not they should be populated.  See below snapshot images of the EVM circuit and our schematic.

  • Hi Sam,

Thank you for your question. Those resistors on the EVM are for switching between the HSD connector and the SMA connectors. These are located between the connector and the CMC, so they will not short the CMC. They are only populated when using the SMAs. The resistors on your design schematic seem to serve a different purpose, maybe to be populated when the CMCs are not populated.

    Regards,

    Ben
