DS90UB948-Q1: For about LINK_ERROR_COUNT Register (Address = 0x41)

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hello Expert:

For about register(0x41), we have a some questions and want to get some answer from you.

     Questions:

     1.How does register 0x41 trigger?

2.What is the state after triggering?

3.How long does it take to recover after triggering?

4.link error detection cycle? If it's set 0x1F, how often does it unlock?

5.How do I lock again after unlock? Is there a case where I cannot lock again?

     6.What happened after unlock?

7.Is there an AEQ compensation mechanism when unlock and lock again?

8.Is it better if 0x41 is all open than none? Does opening have an adverse effect on product performance? Is it recommended to open or close?

9.Does a lock loss cause a flash screen?

10.Based on what considerations is the set value of 0x41 set?

Best Regards

  • Hi Qing,

1.) Register 0x41 triggers when an error is detected in one of the FPD frames.

2.) After triggering, depending on the settings of the register, the number of errors will increment towards the threshold, potentially causing an unlock, or if there is no threshold, the device will unlock.

3.) Recovering from what? Detecting an error? or from unlocking? If it unlocks, the time it takes to relock is totally dependent on whether the AEQ can recover the lock or not.

4.) If it is set to 0x1F, it should unlock at any point where the threshold of link errors is exceeded.

5.)If after the AEQ increases its EQ value, it is able to relock, it will relock. Aside from that, the device can be reset via a power-down or digital reset, which should relock the device. If Increasing the EQ does not improve the connection, the device will stay unlocked.

6.) After lock is lost, the AEQ will try to increase its EQ value so that it can reestablish a lock. If that does not improve the connection, then the device will stay unlocked until a hard reset or digital reset takes place

7.) AEQ will automatically increase its EQ values whenever lock is loss, and will repeatedly do so.

8.) How do you mean by all open than none? Do you mean is it better to have a higher threshold than a lower threshold? Having a higher threshold can lead to display issues being more apparent or obvious, but aside from that, there should be no performance issues.

9.) Lock loss should lead to a black screen.

10.) Depending on the number and rate of link errors, you can set the threshold to be an amount that you do not want to exceed in your setup, an amount greater than the usual number of link passes you see which will allow lock to stay high, or an amount where you want to see if you encounter that many link errors.

Are you encountering errors with this register? Or are there just general questions?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Thank for your answer !

1.When the 948 quickly reverts to the lock state after unlocking, will it cause a flash screen?

2.Does Link Error have a detection cycle? How long is the detection cycle?

  • Hi Qing,

1.) It does not typically cause the screen to flash, no.

2.) As far as I am aware, there is no detection cycle for link error. Link errors should be detected within the FPD Frame.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Thanks very much !

1.The FPD frames error is the index data error, the index data shifted or the RGB value error. Can you describe it in more detail?

2.How does EQ increase after unlock? Is the level increased one by one or based on LVSD signal adaptation at the time? In addition, what will happen to EQ value if it is increased to the maximum value without lock?

  • Hi Qing,

1.) This information is proprietary, so I am unable to go into detail, these errors should count though, yes.

2.) Details for the EQ re-locking and incrementing process can be found in section 7.3.12.2 of the datasheet, but in short, If the device loses lock, it will increment its EQ settings and attempt to re-lock. If successful, the device will not increment again unless lock is lost again. If unsuccessful, the device will continually increase EQ until success. If EQ value maxes out with no lock, then the device will stay unlocked, indicating there may be a link margin error.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hello

What I mean is that when the lock state is restored after ulock, the value of AEQ increases according to what law? The value is recalculated according to the quality of LVDS signal or a grade is added on the basis of principle

  • Hi Qing,

Ah, I see, sorry about that. Yes, the levels are incremented to the next valid state for each time the device cannot re-establish LOCK. This cycle will continue until a valid setting is found.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
