DP83867IR: Pairing with transformer

Hi team,

My customer is considering using DP83867 in their new design, and is paring with following transformer.

7490240142　（Wurth Elektronik）
1000Base-T、4000Vrms 1min.、non-PoE

It seems fine to me but could anyone please check if this transformer would work for DP83867? Any other suggestions on transformer are appreciated if this doesn't seem to work.

Hi David,

The insertion loss and return loss parameters don't seem to be good for the magnetic 7490240142.

I found a RJ45 integrated magnetic from Wurth which are meeting DP83867's requirements. https://www.we-online.com/components/products/datasheet/74991114411.pdf

If you are looking for separate magnetics, I suggest find the one with spec similar to 74991114411's specs.

Thanks for the suggestion!

The customer checked 74991114411 and found that the voltage limit is 2250V, this is lower than their 4kV requirement.

I think this might be a PHY irrelevant question, but do we have any recommend pulse transformer for DP83867 that meets this requirement? (It does not have to be an Elektronik part)

Hi David,

I haven't worked with different magnetics and hence don't have a suggestion. Wurth website has a long list of magnetics and the customer can search for their requirements. I am sure other vendors also have the same.
