DP83869HM: FX_INT_STS detail

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869,

Hello,

I would like you to confirm which condition FX_INT_STS[2](PRI_RES_FAIL) will be asserted.
When user set FX_INT_EN[2](PRI_RES_FAIL_EN), above status bitfield will be validated, but I'm not sure meaning of above status bit.

BR,

  • Hi Ryuuichi,

I would like to ask why did you want to read this register? What application are your using for the for the DP83869 PHY (For example: RGMII to Fiber)?

  • Hello Lin-san,

    >What application are your using for the for the DP83869 PHY
Customer is using RGMII to 1000Base-X.
According to "9.4.10.1 Speed and Duplex Selection - Priority Resolution" of datasheet, there is following description.

    - The DP83869HM supports 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T modes of operation.

In default, bit 2 of FX_INT_EN register is asserted. However, there is no description about treatment of this enable bit in "9.4.8.2 RGMII-to-1000Base-X Mode".
According to above supported application, I suspect that FX_INT_STS[2](PRI_RES_FAIL) will continue to be asserted(This means always failure.) because this function is not supported 1000Base-X. However, I'm not sure above my understanding is correct or not, so I asked question at previous thread.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Ryuuichi,

Here are some comments regarding to your questions:

    • FX_INT_EN register enable Fiber interrupt.
    • FX_INT_STS register monitor the real time status for Fiber interrupt. The signal won't send out unless FX_INT_EN is enable.
