PCI1520: Part Questions

Part Number: PCI1520

Hi Team,

I have questions regarding PCI1520. I hope you can help.

1. Does this device require a PCI host controller?
2. Can it interface directly to CPU? or WDC65C816S-14? and/or a PIC24 microcontroller?
3. Will it bridge to ISA/XT or PC/104?
4. Can it run at 12MHz?
5. Will it hold static for single-step off the clock?

Also, is there any plans to discontinue this device? is there any alternative?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

Here are my answers to your questions to the best of my knowledge. I will also mention that this is an old device with very limited support.

    1. This device requires a PCI host controller.
    2. I am unsure on interfacing directly to CPU. I believe typical application is to PCI Bus.
    3. The device supports parallel and serial ISA.
    4. The datasheet specifies maximum 33MHz PCLK frequency, so 12MHz should be OK.
    5. Could you clarify this question?

I am not currently aware of plans to discontinue the device, but as I stated above, very limited support is available.

    Best,

    David
