DP83826E: Basic mode pin 31

Sorry for the confusion. TX_ER is a GPIO pin. The TX_ER pin is initially acting as an output with LED functionality. It can be configure to input through register 0x0304.

Yes, I know it.

Since my customer will use pin31 as TX_ER, pin31 is connected to MCU’s output pin on his PCB.

Customer will change the register 0x0304 but, it’s output to output connection until the register update because the default function is LED1(output).

In order to avoid this collision, it would be nice if, for example, the output of pin31 could be disabled (tri-stated).Is there such a function?

If not, is it required that a way to disconnect pin31 from the MCU with an external switch until the register is changed?

Please give me your advice.

My question is similar with below thread.

He was able to use PWRDN function because he uses Enhanced mode.

Since my customer will use Basic mode, there is no power down fucntion. Since Auto-negotiation is enabled by default, LED1 can output High just after the power supply ON if there is a link partner.

May I ask why does customer use TX_ER for MII communication? I think MII communication only required RX_ER but not TX_ER.
