DP83826E: LED0 and LED1 strap in Enhanced mode

Part Number: DP83826E

Hi team,

My customer needs Active-Low operation on LED0 and LED1 but, strap setting(Odd Nibble Detection and Phy address) want to be set Low.

How to configure it? I read SNLA344B apps note but I couldn't make it clear.

In the datasheet, P47 explains this situation but it seems only for Basic mode.

Is it okay that we connect 1kohm register(LED current limit), LED and 5kohm pull down in series same as the sentence for Basic mode?

Or, should we change the polarity by serial interface(address 0x18 and 0x469)?

Regards,

  • Hi,

Since Enhanced mode has auto-polarity detection on the LED strapping pins, you will have to change the polarity via the serial interface in order to have both low strap AND active-low operation. This can be done in register 0x18 and 0x469 as you have pointed out. In this case, a 1 kΩ pull-up resistor in series with the LED should be used and a 5 kΩ pull-down resistor.

To avoid the register write, you must choose the active-high operation.

    Thanks,

    David
