DS90UB960-Q1: Applying trigger on two camera sensor at the same time

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi team,

I am using deserializer - ds90ub960 & serializer - ds90ub953 for camera to processor communication. Please refer the below diagram for the connection information

Usecase: Apply trigger for both camera sensor at the same time.

Currently we are getting mixed up image from two camera when applying trigger at the same time on both cameras.
Both camera images are saved in one file and resulting mixed up image. we need to save the image one by one when trigger
applied on both camera at the same time.

can we achieve this by changing any configuration in ds90ub60 ? can you help me on this ?

  • Hello Althaf,

How are you applying this trigger on the sensors? Is this an external signal or a Frame Sync signal sent from the DES side?

Which port forwarding mode are you using? is this default? i.e. round robin?

Are you using two different CSI-2 outputs to send the video data to the processor or only one?

Are you using VC-ID so that the processor differentiates between the cameras or not?

  • Hi Hamzeh,

How are you applying this trigger on the sensors? Is this an external signal or a Frame Sync signal sent from the DES side?- We are using external trigger

Which port forwarding mode are you using? is this default? i.e. round robin? Yes round robin

Are you using two different CSI-2 outputs to send the video data to the processor or only one? Only one csi port is being used

Are you using VC-ID so that the processor differentiates between the cameras or not? -No we are currently not using

  • Hello Althaf,

when using Round-Robin the DES is forwarding the data in the order first come first go. If you want to have both Frames forwarded at the same time, then you should use one of the Synchronized forwarding modes. Please refer to datasheet section"7.4.25.2 Synchronized CSI-2 Forwarding."

  • Hi Hamzah,

    Sorry for the late reply,

We tried  different Synchronized forwarding modes, but it was not worked as expected.
how can we assign  VC-ID to the Rxport ??

  • Hello Althaf,

can you clarify what do you mean not worked as expected? do you mean worked with error, or shows only the output from one camera, or shows black screen ...etc, or what?

The VC-IDs can be changed/assigned on the DES reg 0x72 for each Rx port.
