DS90UB953A-Q1: CVADAS:: Camera Serializer Change

Part Number: DS90UB953A-Q1

We are analyzing if we can change the camera serializer from 9023292AA (DS90UB953TRHBRQ1) to 9024567 (DS90UB935TRHBRQ1).

For that I performed the below anaylsis.

Could you please review the same and also help us with point no. 4.b ,6, 8 and 9?

Sr No. Comparison Considerations Comment on difference between 953 and 935
1 Drop in replacement? Yes
2  Register differences? No difference in the registers that we are currently using.
3 Clocking differences? Internal AoN clock available.
Note: Non-Synchronous
Internal Clock, OSCCLK_SEL = 1 option not available in 935.We are not using this one.
4 Bandwidth? Lower as compared to 953.
953: 3.328 Gbps CSI-2 Bandwidth
935: 2.528-Gbps CSI-2 Bandwidth
a. H and V blanking is compatible? Compatible
b. Frame Sync is compatible?
5 Imager Compatibility?
a. Same frame rates? Supports 30fps.
b. Same colour depth?  Yes
6 Configuration changes?
a. Project specific changes that need to be done?
b. Can we reuse the same WB and AE values?
7 Overall power consumption?
a. Power consumption Low (0.25 W typical) power consumption
0.03 watts less than 953.
b. Supply voltage Same - Single 1.8-V power supply
8 Changes in SNR?
a. Imager to seralizer
b. Serializer to ECU?
9 Changes in EMC emissions? (might not be possible to get this info)
a. Imager to seralizer
b. Serializer to ECU?
10 ESD compliance common? Common
11 PoC specs identical? Identical
12 Supported colour encoding formats?
a. 100% overlap?  100% Overlap
13 Diagnostics overlap? 100%
Both support Serializer Status and Monitoring, FC diagnostics and BC diagnostics.Registers used are also same.
14 FIxed Color Patterns.
       a. Are they same?
Yes it’s the same.Both support 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit pixel formats.
Same number of color bars and blocks are supported.
15 Compatibility with deserializer Though datasheet doesn't list 962 in compatible deserializers. Got confirmation from TI that it is compatible.
  • Hi Rutuja,

DS90UB953 and DS90UB935 are pin-to-pin compatible and have the same features. The only difference is that 935 has a lower CSI-2 input bandwidth requirement. The 935 can accept up to 2.528Gbps of CSI-2 bandwidth, whereas the 953 can accept up to 3.328Gbps of CSI-2 bandwidth. Everything else (including configuration, EMC, SNR, frame sync) is the same as 953.

    Regards,

    Cindy
