we just saw datasheet

9.2.1 Design Requirements
As with any high speed design, there are many factors which influence the overall performance, this section lists
some critical areas for consideration and study.
• Limit the maximum attenuation to -34 dB @ 6 GHz for the entire channel.
• Utilize 100 Ω impedance traces. Generally these are very loosely coupled to ease routing length differences.

Hi Lawrence,

Please refer to datasheet 8.4.3 equalizer settings for the expected CTLE compensation at 4GHz - aside from this we recommend using the IBIS model to best characterize the application at different frequencies.

we saw the darasheet level 4 is 9.5db@ 4GHz is total loss,

It means the channel total insertion loss SPEC is 9.5dB, is that right?

Hi Lawrence,

This refers to the amount of insertion loss the CTLE compensates for - the maximum attenuation for the channel is limited to ~35dB at 4GHz. The CTLE compensates for up to 10dB at 6GHz, so the maximum attenuation will decrease slightly from 36dB at 4GHz.
