Hi team,

Just want to check our hero products in Solar related EE. Please also kindly recommend next gen of these hero products.

Please kindly add your comments. Thanks.

  • Given,

The THVD1510 was chosen for solar applications due to the higher common-mode range and extended ESD protection, essentially the ability to withstand voltage transients and large differences in ground potential between nodes. This device would also be a good choice for the solar optimizer EE, as well as the micro inverter EE.

I've also assigned this thread to our RS-485 expert to comment further if needed.

  • Hi Given,

What Eric said was correct - the THVD1510 is still the most current generation of this device and still a good choice for the end equipment's listed in the excel document.

That being said - while not a hero part for solar applications at the moment - we are starting to expand into solar panel inverters (mainly w.r.t. rapid shutdown applications) with a power line communication RS-485 device - the THVD80x0 family - mainly the THVD8000. We do have an application note going into the high voltage implementation - https://www.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/an/slla590/slla590.pdf?ts=1681920096985 - the note references an AC outlet - but this same system was tested for rapid solar shutdown inverter cases using essentially the same architecture. This gives the benefit of being able to transfer power and data between multiple points in a solar panel inverter system. I think this is an interesting concept that may prove valuable to your customers systems.

If you have any other questions please let me know!

    Best,
