Hi,team

My customer ask the following questions:

"Connect the DS90UB635-Q1 to CMOS Sensor, ISP, and I2C-EEPROM
Connect a microcontroller to the DS90UB638-Q1
I want to input 1080p 60fps or 4K 30fps video from a CMOS sensor to a microcontroller in the above environment, but I need to write firmware from the I2C bus to the ISP.
1. Read 4~8KB of continuous data from I2C-EEPROM to the microcontroller
2. Write 4~8KB of continuous data from the microcontroller to the ISP
Steps 1 and 2 above will be required.

Is it possible to transmit 4~8KB of continuous data as shown in the attached I2C .png?

Hi Katherine,

This could cause issues as this much I2C data could cause a timeout in the SERDES. Once the transactions starts, it is considered as one I2C transfer, so the BCC may eventually time out. We recommend that you break up the data into multiple smaller transactions.

Hi Katherine,

The limit is the I2C watchdog timer which is set to 1 second by default (635 register 0x0A). If there is no valid termination after 1 second of a transaction, the device will attempt to clear the bus. The amount of data will depend on the I2C speed. The watchdog timer must be enabled during device operation.
