TPD2E001: Bad film analysis and FA consultation

Part Number: TPD2E001

Hi,

Some of my clients used TPD2E001DZDR to have bad film phenomenon, which means this problem occasionally occurred before, but more recently.

Description of failure: VCC breakdown of IO2 pin, resistance value close to 0 ohms.  The customer wants to confirm whether there is any problem with their use. Attached is the relevant schematic diagram, please help to review it.  The customer wants to confirm whether it is current breakdown or voltage breakdown, and then further determine the problem. Can we do FA analysis to confirm this?

Many thanks!

  • Hi Rhea,

What is the applicaiton here? Is the TPD2E001 being used to protect RS-485 communication lines (+12/-7V)?

The TPD2E001 has a working voltage (Vrwm) of 5 V, this is the highest voltage recommended on the input of the device. Voltages above this will cause higher leakage current and if the signal lines swing above 11 V the diode could break down. It will breakdown at a minimum voltage of 11 V at 10mA.

  • Hi Sebastian,

Customer test impedance pairs, such as accessories, do differ before and after testing. Customer feedback is much worse 4 and 3 pin short circuit.

What is the solution? Or can FA analysis be done?

    Thanks~

  • Hi Rhea,

Can you please reply to my questions on the previous post to confirm the device is being used within spec?

    Regards,
