AM26LV32E: Replacement from DS26LV32AT

Part Number: AM26LV32E

Hello team,

Regarding common mode input voltage rating, +/-14V is specified as abs max rating in DS26LV32AT. There is no abs max rating for common mode input voltage specified for AM26LV32E but there is recommended range with +/- 7V.

Can I think these two devices have equivalent level each other for common mode input voltage rating?

Best regards,

  • The absolute maximum ratings are identical.

The common-mode input voltage is defined as the average of the two inputs. So when the two inputs have inidividual limits of ±14 V, the average also must not be larger than ±14 V. Specifying a common-mode limit would make sense only if it were different from the inidividual limit.

  • Hi Sato-san,

They are identical with respect to the abs max ratings - for the reasons that Clemens mentioned.

That being said - you really should try to keep the common mode voltage between +/-7V (this is RS-422 standard level - and also where our device is specified at) so while the pins can handle a higher voltage - the device may produce unexpected behavior as its not characterized beyond the +/-7V range - the pins are just tolerant to +/-14V without damage.

Please let me know if there are any other questions that I can help you with!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
