DS26LV32AT: Signaling rate

Part Number: DS26LV32AT

Hello team,

I received a question from the customer.

This is a rudimentary question, but does "Signaling rate (max) (MBits)" on the web page and "Maximum Operating Frequency" on the data sheet mean the same thing?

If so, the numbers on the web page (10 MBits) and on the data sheet (32 MHz) are different. If they are not the same, please tell me what it means since the Signaling rate is not listed in the datasheet.

Regards,

Masa

  • Hi Masa,

Datasheet is going to be more correct than product page - if they disagree go with the datasheet spec - that is a general piece of advice for all of our parts - as sometimes the tables aren't accurate on the product page.

Yes in this datasheet max frequency is max data-rate - so 32Mbps. This device was originally designed by National Semiconductor (The "DS" prefix denotes this) and they used the terms frequency and data rate interchangeably. Typically on devices from us we will either not explicitly mention the max data rate (it is determined by transition times on differential bus) or we just use the term data rate - not frequency. As typically signal fundamental frequency is 1/2 the data rate (you can send 2 bits in one cycle).

So for this device specifically 32MHz means 32Mbps.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,
