DS90UB926Q-Q1: dose DS90ub926 send certain image pattern in BIST mode?

Part Number: DS90UB926Q-Q1

Dear supporter,

we have a production requirement for aging display unit without controller.

display unit has DS90UB926 and controller unit has DS90UB925

we want to know if we send conmand to force DS90UB926 to enter BIST mode, keep display power and then remove controller, can the display unit display any test image?

dose BIST mode send certain image pattern?

  • Hi Yanqing,

If you want to use BIST Mode DS90UB925 is needed at all time to display any test image. Please read section 8.3.17 in the datasheet for BIST Mode configuration.

BIST Mode does not send image patterns, it sends enable signal to the serializer through the back channel and the serializer outputs the image pattern, The deserializer monitors if there is any errors in the pattern.

  • Dear Gil,

so in my understanding, if i want to loop display test pattern in aging test, i only need a MCU to control serdes, no need display signal source.

my planed block is controller board(MCU i2c+DS90UB925)+cable+displayboard(DS90UB926+LCD)

i fist send command from MCU to force DS90UB925&DS90UB926 enter BIST mode, then i can send command from MCU to DS90UB925 to switch different test display pattern.

    is this correct?

  • Hi Yanqing,

What you are saying is correct. BIST Mode is only used to test if there is any errors in the pattern. If you are just trying to display a test image, you can just generate PATGEN through the sereializer and it will generate a color bar pattern. If you choose this approach there is no need to use BIST Mode. You can use either of these approaches.
