TDP1204: Assistance using the TDP1204 to convert from DP++ to HDMI signal.

Hi,

My name is Hutch and I'm interested in using the TDP1204I IC to convert DP++ to an HDMI output and I would like some more information on the best way to accomplish this. To begin, the eDP connector supplying the DP++ signal has 4 data lines, while the TDP1204 only has 3 lanes, so I'm unsure where to connect the fourth data line. Additionally, I'm unsure exactly how to configure some of the other input pins to work for the DP++. Thanks in advance for help with this issue!

Can you double check the eDP connector output? Is it DP or DP++? Typically I would think eDP only supports DP, which in this case you would need an active DP to HDMI protocol converter.

If it is DP++, then please follow the lane mapping

DP Lane 0 --> TMDS Lane 2

DP Lane 1 --> TMDS Lane 1

DP Lane 2 --> TMDS Lane 0

DP Lane 3 --> TMDS CLK

AUXP --> DDC_SCL

AUXN --> DDC_SDA

Thanks for the quick response! The eDP connector is DP++. Aside from those connections, should the source side layout from the datasheet be the general guideline to follow?

You can use the source side layout as a reference. You can also use section 11 in the TDP1204 datasheet as your layout guideline.

If needed, I can review your layout in Cadence Allegro format.
