Could you please answer the questions from costumer?

1. Does SN65DSI86 support DSC?
2. If the device supports DSC, DSC can be bypassed. If you want to bypass, please help to confirm which formats can be supported?

3. how much is the power consumption of this device when the device working in 4k30 30fps RGB888?

we find the power consumption of device in WQXGA 60fps, the customer want to know the consumption on 4k30 30 fps RGB888.

What is the application?

3. We only have the max power consumption listed in the data sheet but scaling back on active lanes and data rate will help lower power consumption.

Hi Zack,

The application is professional camera for film.

For Q1&2, the SN65DSI86 could not support the DSC;

For Q3, you mean the power consumption of device in WQXGA 60fps is larger than the power consumption of 4K30 60fps. Am I right? To evaluate the consumption, do we need other parameters to evaluate consumption except the date rate？

ps to calculate bit rate of WQXGA 60fps=2560*1600*60*（color depth）= Mbps; to calculate bit rate of 4K30:4096*2304*30*8*3=2160Mbps;

Maximum condition: WQXGA 60 fps Dual-Link 2xDP at HBR2, PLL enabled; typical condition: WUXGA 60 fps 1xDP at HBR2, PLL
enabled.

The customer want to use 4k30 RGB888. The datasheet only tell the device power consumption in WQXGA mode. Just tell me which consumption is larger 4K30 or WQXGA ? The have to evaluate the power to design power board.

Nan,

There are more a lot of considerations here to determine power consumption. The datasheet offers only one example of these conditions and considerations.
