TUSB216: D+D- Swap pins using

Part Number: TUSB216

The customer want to check whether the D+D- could swap pin for use?

This means PCB D+ path is connected with D- pin of TUSB216.

PCB D- path is connected with D+ pin of TUSB216.

  • Hi Fabio,

No. You can't mix host and device connections. USB 2 polarity cannot be swapped. The D1x and D2x sides of the device can be swapped with the issue assuming polarity is conserved (DP->DP and DM->DM). TUSB216 DxM pin is connected to DP this function cannot occur and the device features will not be enabled.

    Best,

    Josh

  • I do not know whether you understand my description.

It is an active cable project. The reason is that the customer want to save the space of layout.

I mean: D+1 is the DP of one side, D+2 DP of another side.

    The connection is as below.

    D+1 →D1M→D2M→D+2

    D-1→D1P→D2P→D-2

  • Hi Fabio,

I have checked on the bench whether the swipe is feasible.

You can swap the signals on the TUSB216 as long as the connection between the HOST and Device is correct (DP to DP & DM to DM) as below.

    DP(Host)--------------------D1M---D2M-------------------DP (Device)

    DM(Host)--------------------D1P---D2P-------------------DM (Device)

    Best,

    Josh
