MAX3232: About unused pins

Part Number: MAX3232

Dear TI team

I have a question related to the content of the thread below.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/849803/max3232-floating-pin-questions?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=MAX3232CPWR#

DIN2, ROUT2, RIN2, DOUT2 shall be unused pins.

In this case, I would like to pull DIN2 down to GND with a 5kΩ resistor and leave all other unused pins open.

Is this perception correct?

Best Regards,

Taroimo

  • Unused output pins can be left open; unused bus input pins have integrated pull-downs and can be left open; unused logic input pins must not float and must be connected.

So you are correct; DIN2 must be tied to VCC or GND, with or without a resistor.
