Sir,

We would select an USB to serial bridge controller to integrate into our system.

Does TI have any bridge controller recommendation ?

It looks USB3410 is suitable for our use.

But for our application, we need Linux driver support.

Could you help to confirm whether USB3410 have Linux driver ?

Which Linux kernel number is available be included ?

Hi Rick,

Yes, there is a TUSB3410 driver that has been included in the Linux kernel since v2.6.1.

Hi Nicholaus,

I tested TUSB3410UARTPDK EVM board on Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel : 5.15), but result is that no Linux driver found.

TUSB3410 EVM board

lsusb --> found TUSB3410UART EVM

ls /dev/ttyUSB* --> No any ttyUSB device found

In general, it should have ttyUSB* device.

Do you have more Linux driver information ?

The ID 0451:341a is not known to the driver. Try the following commands:

sudo modprobe ti_usb_3410_5052
sudo bash -c "echo 0451 341a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/ti_usb_3410_5052/new_id"

If this works, please file a bug report to add this ID to the driver.

Hi Nicholaus,

I meet permission denied error.

sudo bash -c "echo 0451 341a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/ti_usb_3410_5052/new_id"
Permission denied.

I change file mode to 777.

sudo chown 777 ti_usb_3410_5052

But result is still in vain.

Then I guess you have additional security modules like AppArmor or SELinux enabled. Is there some audit message in the output of "dmesg | tail" directly after executing the failed command?

Anyway, the TUSB3410 is no longer sold.

Hi,

Execute first command : sudo modprobe ti_usb_3410_5052

dmesg message : usbserial: USB Serial suppoer registered for TI USB 5052 1/2 port adapter

But no dmesg showed when execute second command as below command line.

sudo bash -c "echo 0451 341a > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/ti_usb_3410_5052/new_id"

I do not know what configuration on your PC prevents access to this file.

Anyway, the default USB ID of the TUSB3410 (if you can buy it) is supported.

We do not have software support on our team, and the latest Linux driver has not been created by TI. You will need to request support from the Linux community.
