DS90UB947-Q1: Want to use D_GPIOs in single link mode

Part Number: DS90UB947-Q1

Dear TI experts,

My customer considers DS90UB947-Q1 for their new product.

they have a question about D_GPIO.

In the datasheet, D_GPIOs are only available in dual link mode. but I found a thread on E2E below ;

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1060686/ds90ub948-q1-does-d-gpios-of-ds90ub948-q1-only-work-in-dual-link-mode

the expert said that we can use D_GPIO of DS90UB948 in single link mode by setting the register.

Can I use D_GPIO of DS90UB947 in single link mode by setting the register as well?

please check this issue. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

There is a confusion and I have corrected the thread. D_GPIOs are only available in dual link mode as per the datasheet. The PORTSEL bits in register 0x34 are used to select D_GPIOs as they share the same configuration registers as normal GPIOs. Hope this helps.

    Shu

  • Dear Shu,

    Thank you for your support.

The conclusion is there are no way to use D_GPIO[x] in single link mode. please confirm it.

and is it possible to use GPIO expander IC which is I2C controlled with DS90UB947 in single link mode?

    Best regards,

    Chase

  • Hi Chase,

This is correct, there is no way to use D_GPIO in single link mode.

It is possible to use a GPIO expander, however the timing considerations involved with the expander IC may introduce more propagation than the onboard normal GPIOs that can be used over single link.

    Best,

    Shu
