TIC12400-Q1: Reset of TIC12400

Part Number: TIC12400-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIC12400,

Hi,

Is it recommended to use a capacitor across the RESET pin of the TIC12400?

  • Hello Hemanth,

The RESET pin is an active high signal and should remain low during normal operation.  To help prevent noise or transient pulses from creating a reset event, you can use a capacitor that would absorb the energy of the pulse and have to charge to a level sufficient to cause a reset event.

There isn't a requirement or specific recommendation on whether you should or should not use a capacitor and therefore you are free to use one if you would like.  Using a capacitor should not be a problem either, but if it is connected to a GPIO pin on the MCU, there will be an increase in the time between the MCU initiating a reset event by toggling the GPIO pin and when the cap is charge sufficiently to create the actual TIC12400-Q1 reset event.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
