SN65DSI83: Is I2C connection is mandatory in SN65DSI83

Part Number: SN65DSI83

Dear Team,

As per my knowledge the role of I2C in SN65DSI83 is "The reference clock source is selected by HS_CLK_SRC (CSR 0x0A.0) programmed through the local I2C
interface. ".

Is this one time programmable or do I need to program every time I turn on the system.

May I know I2C interface is mandatory in SN65DSI83.Can use the chip without I2C

Regards

You have to program the DSI83 registers every time you turn on the system since the registers are being reset to their default value on every power cycling.

And I2C programming is required to make sure the DSI83 is programmed to match the display panel spec.

    Thanks
