Hi team,

my customer want to use TUSB216 to be 2sd of TUSB211,

if they don't have any scenario that will disable redriver during power on, can they just float the RSTZ pin with a cap?

without any external pull up power.

please help elaborate it for me.

Fred,

Is RSTZ pin driven? If RSTZ pin is not driven, then I would recommend 0.1-µF external capacitor to GND to ensure clean power on reset.

What is the difference between driven and not driven?

it only connect to a 0.1uF cap now

Hi Fred,

Driven indicates signal is controlled by another device. Not-driven indicates signal is pulled up or down.

From your description, I believe the signal is not-driven, so you should ground with 0.1uF cap.

so it will enable as the VCC power up if I just ground it with a 0.1uF cap?

Yes, because there is an internal pull-up resistor.
